Nearly Departed in Deadwood is a book I purchased for myself on a whim because it looked interesting, and I am so very glad that I did. Charles has delivered such an entertaining tale that proved hard to put down. Violet was such a relatable character being down on her luck and trying hard to do right by her two kids. Violet is very well developed during the course of the book, and I especially enjoyed all the secondary characters introduced. Charles does a great job at combining humor, a hint of romance, mystery, and suspense. Nearly Departed in Deadwood is a great introduction to the series, and I am anxious to read another adventure featuring Violet and company.
